In November 2020, Irina Lungu returns to the Wiener Staatsoper as Juliette in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette. The five performances will mark Irina’s first appearances in a role of the French repertoire in Vienna, where in the past the soprano has starred in operas such as La traviata, Don Giovanni, Idomeneo, Don Pasquale and La bohème.
Irina Lungu made her role debut as Juliette in 2014 in Seoul and later reprised it at the Arena di Verona and at the Audi Sommerkonzerte Festival in Germany.
In Vienna, she will share the stage with Virginie Verrez, Michael Spyres, Sergey Kaydalov, Dan Paul Dumitrescu, Donna Ellen, Carlos Osuna, Michael Rakotoarivony, Marcus Pelz, Paolo Rumetz and Artyom Wasnetsov in the other roles. Evelino Pidò will conduct the production by Jürgen Flimm which premiered in 2001. Performances on November 8, 11, 14, 19 and 22.
